Get things done with your Mac
“Getting things done can be a difficult task. Remembering what you have to do next Friday, or even in an hour, can prove difficult to those of us who are bad with short-term memory.
Well, that’s where GTD (Get Things Done) applications come in.
GTD apps are essentially pumped-up “To-Do” lists. There are a ton of them available, and I’m going to highlight some of the better ones for the Mac.”

Domaiiin… Heeeeere, domain!
I purchased the domain condawg.com the other day.
So far, it’s been nothing but bad luck.
I’ve found a free host (can’t afford to pay for hosting right now) that sounds pretty awesome, set up WordPress on it, and now.. Well, that’s all I can really do.
I can’t access the site at my house for some reason.
A few people on Twitter have told me that it’s working for them. I can access it at school, but not at home (even after restarting the router!).
Trying to figure it out… Maybe it just needs time, I dunno.
Anybody have any advice?

Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X
I ordered Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X (Second Edition) today. I’ve been really itching to program for the last… Well, I haven’t programmed since I was around 13 or 14, when I stopped programming in PHP.
Ever since then, I’ve dabbled in Java, Python, C++, and, most recently, Objective-C. Thing with Objective-C and Cocoa, though, is that I’ve been very… Unmotivated, for some reason. I’ve just lacked the punch that the other languages once gave me.
It’s not that I’m uninterested, I’ve just not been able to grasp it with online tutorials. I figured, maybe buying a book will push me a bit.
I’ll have it physically, in my hands. I learn things better that way, and I’ll be more motivated because I spent money on it.
Regardless, I’m excited to get it in the mail whenever it comes. It’s got some great reviews, and it looks like a great place to start programming for the Mac. (Only bummer is that I won’t be able to share any creations with Windows/Linux pals of mine.)

I got to do an interview with David Lanham.
He’s my favourite artist, so I was really jazzed about it. It’s the first interview I’ve published, and I like it.
I really like that he shared some of his earlier art. Wish he’d shown something a bit earlier, though. Maybe one of those embarrassing ones.
Anyway, you can read it here. (I would just copy/paste the contents of the post as I did for the Macheist bundle post on here, but this post’s got a bunch of images and I don’t want to piggyback off of Techbowers’ bandwidth too much.)

If you’re on a Mac, Macheist should always be in your favourite list in your browser. Macheist is a website that runs “Heists” (mission things) that reward you with free applications. This year, we had the third Heist, resulting in tons of free software. Some of it was completely pointless for some people, but there is something for everyone in the Loot.

Well, along with the free applications and missions, Macheist also sells a “Bundle” every year, which is a collection of a bunch of awesome Mac apps for one very cheap price. This year, we get fourteen applications, totaling a retail sale price of $557.75, and we get all of it for only $39.
25% of every sale goes to a charity of your choice (chosen out of ten), or you can just split it evenly.
Tonight at 8PM EDT, Macheist had a live show streaming that introduced the bundle. Thousands of people viewed it. Unfortunately, I could only catch half of it or so, but from what I saw, it was an amazing show. Somehow, I seem to be missing one of the applications… They advertise that you’re purchasing fourteen applications, which is what I’m reporting because that’s what the page says, but I’m seeing only thirteen.
Here are the applications, as I see them.
iSale, Picturesque, SousChef, World of Goo, PhoneView, LittleSnapper, Acorn, Kinematic, WireTap Studio, BoinxTV, The Hit List, Espresso, and Big Bang Board Games (for the first 25,000 buyers only). Some applications (WireTap Studio through Espresso on the above list) will be available only after a certain amount of money is donated to charity, but all customers will get them. Some people are thinking, “if I buy the bundle now, I won’t get those applications,” but that’s not true. Buy it now, and even if it gets to that donation amount after your purchase, you will still get the applications.
The bundle will be sold for fourteen days. So far, a bit over an hour after the pricing was announced and sales started, 2,316 copies have been sold. It seems to be going pretty well.
A lot of these apps cost as much, if not more, than the bundle itself, so if you’re planning on ever getting one of them just act now and get a bunch of other applications as well.
Update: They seem to have changed it to say “12 Top Mac Apps” instead of 14. That fixes things — I couldn’t find one, and the board game thing is only for the first 25,000 purchasers.

Whimsical Musings of a Writer
I decided to make a personal blog. I connect with people on the Internet in a bunch of other ways, be it through Twitter, forums, or other people’s blogs.
I figured, “hey, I’ll make a personal blog,” and so here I am.
I’ll post things whenever I want, about whatever I please. Whether it’s an excerpt from a story I’m working on, an article I’ve written for a blog (such as Techbower), or just random musings, ideas, or thoughts.
To put it short: it’s a personal blog.
If you want to check me out on twitter, hit up @Condawg. If you follow and I deem you interesting enough, I will follow back… I’m not the type to go “New follower? Crap, follow!”
Anywho, check back here for regular updates, if you give half a crap about what’s on my mind at any given time. Chances are you don’t, but… Well, it’s nice to have an outlet.
I’ll probably be working on visual aspects of this blog sometime soon. I’ve got some stuff to do today, but I’ll probably do something for it. I hate the default WordPress theme. (I am quite impressed with the new version of WordPress, though. Techbower still uses an older version, so the dashboard is all new to me, and I really like the upgrades.)
